This can be viewed as a designer's "style." In particular, their intellectual perspectives or approaches to design problems; shifting the focus away from a strict visual determinant.
I find this approach to be personally relevant as my design approach focuses heavily on developing communication strategies, not just aesthetics. I believe that design is the synthesis of both form and content, and that communication should have both these elements.
Every piece of art or designed object must relate a message to its audience. It is this relationship where communication lies, and where I believe my experience with communication theory separates me from the rest of the crowd.
